In case you haven't heard of studio Madhouse's (you know, the guys who made Death Note, Black Lagoon, and almost every Satoshi Kon movie) new anime, No Game No Life, it's pretty good. The premise sounds generic and wish fulfilment-ey but the execution has been wonderful.
The story follows two shut-in (NEET) siblings are the greatest online gaming team in the world. One day they get an email asking them to play him in chess. After they beat them they get transported to a world where all problems are solved by playing games. I don't want to say any more because its better if you just experience it.
The characters so far are dynamic and likeable. The two main characters fall into the "Genius Character" category along with characters like Lelouche from Code Geass and Light from Death Note. The world the story has built is interesting. The music is great. Finally the art style is unique and really nice to look at!
Overall, from the 4 episodes that I've seen so far, it's looking to be the best anime of the season. I highly recommend checking it out!

I'm planning to binge it once it's finished. I've never been good at keeping up with anime from week to week, though I'm doing an alright job of following Kawaisou this season. Love Hina being one of my formative anime/manga experiences, I've always had a soft-spot for dorm/inn based romantic comedies.

This is something I've been meaning to try out, partly because of Madhouse, and partly because of the unusual art style. Madhouse usually puts out excellent shows, but like all studios can have some duds.
Got some favourite Madhouse shows, or is it all in the text above.
It's going to have to do a lot of work to be better than Mushi-shi though. Will have to see how it matches up to 'The World is Still Beautiful', which is the only other thing I've tried so far, based on seeing positive reviews of it.

Since it is only currently scheduled for 12 episodes I'm worried that it won't get renewed and it will lead up to a "read the manga/light novel" ending. At this point there seems like a ton of content for them to cover in order to achieve their ultimate goal. Either way though I'm along for the ride since I want to learn more about the world.

Well considering that it beat out EVERYTHING on crunchyroll except Naruto the other day when the last episode came out, it would be insane of them to not make a second season if it keeps this much steam.
